Hoverflytastic

A bit like 'Where's Wally' ....... where are the hoverflies?

Hover Fly

Beautiful!!!!

Olympic Meadow

I bought some Olympic meadow mix from Professors Nigel Dunnett and James Hitchmough of the department of landscape at the University of Sheffield. They masterminded the Olympic Meadow mix after several years of trials. Mine was a bit late germinating but I remain hopeful for next year.

Wildflower Heaven

Very happy to enjoy one of our fabulous wildflower meadows. The others are in the making, but because they are perennial meadows we will have to wait until next year.

Dragonfly in Suburbia

Dashed into house to grab camera to capture my dragonfly find... nedd not have rushed as it perched sunning itself for about 10 minutes. Common Hawker I think.

Bat in Daylight

Amazed to see a bat flying about yesterday (about midday) in Allen Banks during our recent fishing trip North. It zoomed about under a footbridge and disappeared into hanging trees close to an exposed cliff. Could have been a Daubenton or Natterer as it was near a river, but not having my bat detector in the broad light of day (!) I couldn't say for sure.

Blackcurrent Meadow

Oh so happy :)  My wonderful meadow has grown well under the blackcurrent bushes at the bottom of the garden.

Found During Weeding

Common newt found in vegetation by the pond yesterday.
